They seek a 'sign'...
'Others, testing Him, sought from
Him a sign from heaven' Luke
11:16
'Then
some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, “Teacher, we
want to see a sign from You.” But He answered and said to them, “An
evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will
be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” Matthew
12:38-39
How very grievous to the
Holy spirit are those who continuously seek a 'sign' from God in
order 'that they may believe', when an abundant and overflowing
amount of 'signs' are all around us. And even though the Lord Jesus
Himself stood before them and was continuously healing the sick,
giving sight to the blind, making the lame to walk, casting out
demons, even raising the dead! They looked on with cold hearts and
refused to acknowledge the power and presence of God.
“Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that
you would send him to my father’s house, for I have five brothers,
that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of
torment.’ Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets;
let them hear them.’ And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one
goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ But he said to
him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they
be persuaded though one rise from the dead.” Luke
16:27-31
“For the
hearts of this people have grown dull. Their
ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they
should see with their
eyes and hear with their
ears, Lest they should understand with their
hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.’ Matthew
13:14-16

I
Believe
I
believe in the wind
It
caresses my face
And
brings down the Fall leaves
It
brings powerful storms
Or
a cool nights' breeze
I
believe in the wind
But
I cannot see it
I
believe in sounds
Honking
horns, barking dogs
Children
playing in back yards
Bees
humming and low whispers
I
believe in sounds
But
I cannot see them
I
believe in gravity
it
keeps me on the ground
It
causes objects to fall
With
soft flutters or heavy thuds
I
believe in gravity
But
I cannot see it
I
believe in smells
Fresh
cut grass, baking bread
Aroma
of flowers, little puppies
The
fragrance after a rain
I
believe in smells
But
I cannot see them
I
believe in the air that I breathe
It
fills my lungs
and
brings life to my body
I
believe in air, but I cannot see it
I
am alive!
But
how did I begin to live?
What
gave me breath?
I
believe in God!
